I guess this is the inevitable outcome of the “thug life” all those rappers are always talking about:
Polly Snell fixed her grief-laden gaze Tuesday on the blood-spattered sidewalk and front yard of a Hayward home where two 4-year-old girls were shot in the head during a drive-by shooting the night before.
On Tuesday, blood stains were visible on the front lawn of the home, as well as inside a light-blue Barbie VW Power Wheels toy car where one of the victims had apparently been sitting. Pink-and-purple sandals in the front seat were covered in blood — as was the steering wheel — and a paper rule used by police was affixed to the back seat.
Somebody was no doubt trying to send a message in the way these things are done. That or someone needed to prove their manhood to their “crew.”
Yeah, I’m sure whoever dissed’ whoever else has learned his lesson and won’t do it again. And the shooter’s are saying:
“Yo, yo, that’s wack, dog! Fa-shizzle!”
Somehow, as cool as that is, it doesn’t make a satisfying epitath for two little girls.
So here’s my own little shout out to the peeps who did this. I doubt they can read, but maybe someone will tell them about it: You are less than nothing. Do us a favor and turn yourself in. I say this knowing that you’ll likely be murdered in prison when your fellow inmates find out what you’ve done. In this case, I’m down wit’ it.
Then again, you’ve still got the gun. You could save us all the trouble of finding, arresting and prosecuting you.
Know what I’m sayin’?
Update 5/7/08: One of the girls in this story died. The other survived but spent more than a month in the hospital. A third child, only three, was grazed in the ear by a bullet but unharmed. More than a year later there have been no arrests, despite a $65K reward being offered.
If anyone knows who murdered Datasha Wilson, you can call the Hayward Police Department at 510-293-7000.
Update 4/26/10: I missed this when it broke. The losers responsible for shooting two toddlers and killing one are finally facing justice:
Hayward police say they have arrested five suspected members of a gang known by the initials DGF. Four males and one female were arrested; all were adults, except for one juvenile.
Police say they were involved in the shooting death of a 4-year-old Datasha Wilson in March of 2007. Her 4-year-old cousin Tatiana Coria was injured
Police said it has been difficult to get witnesses and others with information about the case to step forward.
Rot in prison, scumbags.
