Chicago: Fail
Morgen on October 2, 2009 at 8:52 am
“The shock of Chicago’s elimination was greater for the fact that it came in the first round. And greater for the fact that President Obama had taken valuable hours from his packed and tense political schedule to travel to Copenhagen. His legendary powers of persuasion will be said to have failed him, though in reality it will be Chicago’s bid that failed him. Nonetheless, this is a moment which allows the president’s detractors to allege waning prestige on the part of his presidency. And it will raise questions about the political advice that he is receiving.”
BBC News’ Adam Brookes in Chicago
John Adds: Axelrod is putting this all down to “politics.” Ed Morrissey says it smells like “hubris.” I’m with him on that one. At least, so far, no one has made the suggestion that the IOC is racist.

Do you think maybe the IOC just wanted to see how far they could manipulate and embarrass him as well? This is telling to the rest of the world that he would run off to Copenhagen for this with so many pressing domestic issues.
October 2, 2009 @ 9:18 amThe circus is now over; let’s all get back to the real priorities of the country.
You can’t like the Baucus bill with all its taxes and mandates plus rationing. If you are a baby boomer; just remember your Mother and Fathers are going to be hurt by the cuts in medicare. If anyone tells you differently, then, from a personal viewpoint, I feel they are disingenuous and lack intellectual honesty
October 2, 2009 @ 9:50 amThis again illustrates Obamanure’s absolute lack of setting his priorities in a proper fashion. It also speaks to a hubris of unbridled proportion. What a gasbag!
He’s talked with the commander of our troops in Afghanistan once since he’s been president, national unemployment is close to 10% (9.8%), the stimulus has completley failed, etc.. In short, the country is headed to “hell in a handbasket” and our goofball Commander in Chief thinks a personal appearance was warranted in Copenhagen. This bozo thought his appearance would “wow” the Olympic folks into genuflecting before his unctious utterances and immediately award the Olympic games to Chicago. What a narcissist! Maybe this half-wit will try and blame George Bush for his failings. After all, that’s all we ever hear from this guy.
Hey, rumor has it that Obamanure wanted to add a sport to the Olympics. The competition would involve babies who survive an abortion. After their survival, they would receive no medical attention (just like the bill he supported as a state Senator in Illinois). The one who dies first would receive the gold medal.
October 2, 2009 @ 11:54 amYeah, if anyone tells you that no one, other than lying, fear-mongering right-wingers like Bachmann, the ever-odious Palin and the crying clown Beck, that not one proposal from Democrats will affect medicare in any form or fashion, just refer them to intellectual giganticness of ol’ Father up there.
As for Bush, the man is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent human beings (too darn bad they were already born, because you champions of life and liberty couldn’t give a flying Jesus about them) and by this time in his dreadful, murderous administration, he had already taken 40 days of vacation — so much for pressing domestic issues, right guys, right?
I mean, Bush protects his families oil interests by invading Iraq and it’s the most patriotic thing ever. Obama comes in to clean up what that drunken fool broke over the course of eight years and decides to re-invest in his country and it’s the Soviet Union all over again. That, my friends, is why you deserve the crying clown Beck as your spokesman and Palin as your spokes model.
I’m just glad to see the true colors come out now that America has been denied an Olympic games and you folks cheer. Wear those flag pins, patriots!
October 2, 2009 @ 1:01 pm[...] Morgen from Verum Serum quotes BBC News’ Adam Brookes: (Obama’s) legendary powers of persuasion will be said to have failed him, though in reality [...]
October 2, 2009 @ 1:44 pmI know this may be difficult for some people to understand, but the core of the life/liberty issue is accountability and personal responsibility. I know (for some) it’s hard to tell the difference between a jihadist and an unborn baby, but just trust me- there are some MAJOR differences. I know that it’s hard to understand that when life and liberty are threatened, a certain defense may be in order.
October 2, 2009 @ 1:56 pmYeah, all of those poor jihadist Iraqi children who now live in abject poverty, disease and squalor while their parents have seen their lives, their country and their relatives destroyed. Maybe this is too hard for you to understand, you war-mongering apologist, Bush is a war criminal responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent human beings. Now you, my torture-defending monster, were saying something about personal responsibility? You men Bush and Cheney taking responsibility for their crimes against humanity including two immoral wars of choice, the use of torture and the continued use of American resources to prop up the Saudi regime, that responsibility? No of course not, you couldn’t possibly be referring to that because you’re obviously a staunch defender of killing innocent human beings and then comparing that to the elimination of a blastocyst. Immoral clown.
October 2, 2009 @ 2:34 pmSisterMoon, get the drug dealers out of your neighborhood. It looks like you’ve had one too many hits off the pipe.
October 2, 2009 @ 5:04 pmIf this is true, is Obama any less of a war criminal then for the deaths of hundreds of civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan (to date) since he became President? Because the last I checked, he has yet to change any Bush policies/strategies with regards to the War on Terror…other than to send an additional 20K troops to Afghanistan.
If you are going to take this stand equivocating between the premeditated murder of innocent unborn life and unintended casualties of a war against violent, radical Islamist, then at least be consistent.
October 2, 2009 @ 5:22 pmYes, Bush is responsible to a large degree for the deaths of many Iraqis. But is it in a criminal sense? Fortunately, you don’t get to decide that one! And those who do get to decide, have decided that Bush is not guilty of war crimes. In a sense, you also are partially responsible for Iraqi deaths too- you’re a taxpayer, right? Do you use petrolium products by any chance?
Just curious: from where do you derive your ideas about human rights? What is your source of morality from which you determine justified warfare vs. war crimes; innocence vs. guilt, etc.?
October 2, 2009 @ 9:39 pmFor what its worth, the Olympics have never been held in South America. They’re in Europe in 2012, were in Asia in 2008 and have been in the US twice in my lifetime. According to the report I read, Rio’s presentation was far and away the best, too. Sorry to go off track like that.
October 3, 2009 @ 1:53 amNo problem Keith. I just thought is was hilarious that Obamanure felt his presence would stun everyone into submission. The man must believe his own press clippings. In any case, we’re in a mess over here. The unemployment figures just released were depressing, we’re going to escalate the war in Afghanistan, his attempt to take over a large section of our economy continues and all we do is throw more government money at problems versus offering free market solutions. We’re turning into the Peoples Republic of America. We deserve it though. We put Jimmy Carter the 2nd into office.
October 3, 2009 @ 11:14 amI agree with that much. Guess that’s something.
