The BBC is reporting that a female Pakistani government official was shot dead by an Islamic fanatic who objected to her refusal to wear a veil and who did not believe women should hold political office. Minister Zilla Huma Usman was shot once in the head by Mohammad Sarwar just before she gave a speech to a waiting crowd of supporters. When questioned about his motives, Sarwar told the police that women occupying senior positions was against the rule of God and was an attempt to subjugate men. Minister Usman was active in campaigning for the emancipation of women in Pakistan.
When reporting on this story, Fox News quotes the gunman as saying:
“I have no regrets. I just obeyed Allah’s commandment I will kill all those women who do not follow the right path, if I am freed again.”
I did not find any other news outlet covering the story that included this quote from Sarwar. I wonder why. Could it be that once again his words (and actions) give graphic proof of why Islam is a danger to the entire world?
What’s sad is that he is right at least in the frame of reference of his Moslem beliefs. He did what Islam told him should be done. He did what many, many Moslems believe should be done in every country around the world.
