Cracking Down on Cool Parents

John on February 15, 2007 at 12:06 am

From KGET in Bakersfield:

Four people have been cited for breaking the “cool parent” law, which is officially called the Social Host Liability ordinance.

A party in December on La Cresta Drive left six teens stabbed; the parent of the house—Christopher Drakos—has been cited, along with three other people who live at the northeast Bakersfield home. The ordinance said a homeowner, landlord, tenant, parent, or teen who hosts a disturbing party with underage drinking can be cited. The ordinance went into effect June 29 and this is the first citation.

Sounds like common sense to me. I wonder if Dr. Altemeyer would say I’m too interested in punishing misbehavior?
