Superbowl Commecials

The game was actually better than the commercials this year. Over at Hot Air, Allahpundit has a run down of the night’s best (commercials) with video for about a 15 of them.
My favorite had to be the Ultraman commercial for Garmin. But of course I’m a bit strange that way.

I’m gonna have to cast my lot for FedEx’s “Names don’t mean a thing” commercial with Harry, Ilene, Joy, Bob and of course – Mr. Turkeyneck!
But the best commercial of alltime IMHO is the E-Trade Monkey wasting monkey bit from several years back.
I have these both posted at my blog if anyone is interested http://bechurchsa.blogspot.com
February 4, 2007 @ 11:01 pmWe didn’t watch the game, but I heard Rush L. on the radio this morning referencing the fact that both coaches are “witnessing Christians”, and that one of the coaches spoke about being a Christian when he was accepting the trophey. Rush said that he was unable to find any press this morning making reference to the coaches’ faith, and that more than likely the press was scared off by it. But, what he did think the press would comment on was the coach’s mention of being the first African Americans to accomplish what they did – even though both of the coaches gave credit where credit was due, to God.
February 5, 2007 @ 1:02 pmActually, Coach Dungee kind of passed on the question about being the first African American coach in a Super Bowl with two AA coaches and said he was more proud of being two Christian coaches who lead teams in a manner that was reflective of their faith.
Ben Utecht (Left TE) goes to our church (and may be playing guitar with our praise band during the modern worship service – I play keyboards), commented last week in church that there are at least 20 (of the 54) players who are Christian and attend weekly Bible study and accountability groups (though he didn’t name names, which was fine…), and that Coach Dungee is one of the finest examples of someone who practices what he preaches – on and off the field).
Both Ben and Tony Dungee are classy guys who always (as I’ve been watching) given credit where all credit is due.
February 5, 2007 @ 1:53 pmChris,
Once I heard the coaches mentioned on the radio, I regretted not watching the end of the game, at least. I would have enjoyed seeing that.
“…commented last week in church that there are at least 20 (of the 54) players who are Christian and attend weekly Bible study and accountability groups…”
That’s almost 40%! Impressive.
I wonder how many of them were already Christian on this team, and how many were impacted by their teammates – finding Christ through being invited somewhere, or introduced by way of a conversation, after they joined the team.

On another note, you play Keyboards?! We (some of us here on
VS are good friends, and attend the same church) were just saying the other night that it is too bad you live so far away, as you seem like someone we’d enjoy hanging out with. And, oddly enough, the “regulars” (John, Scott, Tim) are musicians as well.
Birds of a feather, on so many levels…
February 5, 2007 @ 2:47 pmWow – so many coincidenences! I will be in San Diego at the end of March (but w/o a vehicle) if any of y’all would want to get together. John & Scott should have my emal to work out any details…
