Over at the Huff Post, nearly every major contributor to that site has thrown in their two cents worth about some 9/11 issue. I agree that it is an extremely important and poignant time in our nation’s life. It is interesting, though, that one of the prominent “feature commentaries” by Scott Thill is titled “Memorializing Hyperreality” with a lead that declares:
Here we are, five years later, wondering how to situate, contextualize, memorialize and, most importantly, capitalize on 9/11. (bold type mine)
Hmmm. “Capitalize on 9/11,” eh?!?
What a great idea! I could create a liberal blog, bring together the “leading” liberal minds I can find around the U.S., give them free reign to spout off whatever they want, and then when the anniversary of September 11 comes along, I can use the opportunity to take advantage of the day and rehash as many old and unsubstantiated arguments as possible. That’s brilliant!
Ohhhh, I guess the Huffington Post already did that.
Oh, well. I guess I’ll have to wait until next time.
