Once More Unto the Breach, Dear Friends!

John on July 26, 2006 at 4:25 pm

Yesterday, a blogger who goes by the name Seixon wrote about threats and attempts at intimidation he received from a well known liberal blogger named Jason Leopold. Many conservative blogs noted the story including LGF, RedState, Ace of Spades HQ, the Anchoress, Protein Wisdom, Patterico, HotAir and others.

Today, Seixon received a phone call to his home in Norway which ended with a death threat: “You’re a dead man.” Several blogs have noted the threat, but for reasons I can’t understand, the general tenor seems to be that it’s time to lay off the story? Not to lay the whole thing at his feet, but as an example Ace just posted saying he wasn’t going to get dragged into this any further. But again, it’s not just him. Many conservative blogs seem to be recoiling or falling silent.

Huh? I say again: HUH?!

A major-league liberal blogger has been credibly accused of threats, lying, sock-puppetry and possibly a death threat and now it’s time to back off? What in the world? Are we being quietly frightened into silence?

I remember this same dynamic from the Clinton years. Clinton was accused of one dalliance after another. Each one got some media and rightly so. Then Juanita Brodderick came along with a credible rape allegation. Suddenly networks and newspapers were spiking stories. George Will had a section of his column redacted. It was almost as if the accusation itself was too hot, in fact it was radioactive. To this day, the only person who seems willing to mention it in public is Ann Coulter, and we all know she’s odd (or something).

Well, sorry, but I believe Juanita. I think if it wasn’t for the fact that the press loved him, Clinton would have had to answer a few questions about her accusations. But that never happened. It was too dark, too scary, too risky…

That is just so lame.

In the grand scheme of things I don’t know that this story about Jason Leoplod rates very high and I’m sure I don’t rate very high. But come on, people. This is not the time to quit. What’s going on here is nothing short of personal terrorism. If there’s one thing conservative bloggers should know it’s that you don’t negotiate with terrorists.

Let’s get those IPs and check Seixon’s story. Let’s nail down Leopold’s involvement (or non-involvement). Let’s make the MSM notice this story. Now is not the time to fold up tents and move on to less disturbing news. Once more unto the breach, dear friends!

And if it is Leopold, let’s make enough noise about it to ensure his career as a journalist is truly over.
