My friend Dr. Andrew Jackson of SmartChristian.com has started a group blog devoted to the intersection of faith and politics. The idea behind RedBlueChristian is to have believers from both sides of the aisle come together and contribute on political issues in a group blog format. Dr. Jackson has already rounded up a group of red and blue Christians to begin discussing the issues, but there may be more added in the future. You can see the current roster on the RedBlueChristian sidebar.
RBC is going to have a rolling start of sorts as we build to the 2006 election season. Then, if all goes well, it will be going strong in time for the 2008 presidential election. It seems that interest and concern about Christian involvement in politics is at an all time high, with books and movies warning that Theocracy! is just around the corner. Hopefully, RBC will generate some light as well as heat in this ongoing discussion.
Finally, I helped Dr. Jackson put the site together, basically making some simple changes to the excellent design Tim Challies did for the SmartChristian site. I think the new site looks different and yet is similar enough to be recognizably related to SmartChristian. I’m also proud to say that Dr. Jackson has invited me to be a contributor, though I think I’ll sit back and watch to start with.
If you’re a Godblogger, consider adding RedBlueChristian to your blogroll. I think it’s going to be an interesting place to visit.
