Is the Nation Ready to Elect a President Who Doesn’t Let His Own Kids Watch TV?

I’ll say one thing about Rick Santorum: whereas most politicians very cautiously straddle the line between appealing to their base of support, while trying not to alienate other fair minded voters who may agree with them on a more limited range of issues, Santorum is unabashed when it comes to promoting his socially conservative views. I suspect reigniting the culture wars is not a top priority for most conservative voters in this election cycle, much less the electorate as a whole, but Santorum certainly represents a stark contrast to the other remaining contenders in this regard.

From a September 2010 podcast interview with Focus on the Family:

I’ll go on record and say that I think every last ounce of energy from our next President needs to be devoted to dealing with our fiscal straights, and national security concerns. And that I think the chief role for elected leaders in influencing our culture is through upholding the Constitution, and through leading by example with their own lives. But I respect Santorum’s conviction…if not his sweater vests.
