John J. Miller at NRO has a list of the 50 greatest conservative songs. The list includes songs by great bands including “Won’t Get Fooled Again” by The Who (#1) and “Revolution” by the Beatles (#7). “The Trees” by Rush (one of my favorite bands) is #11 and “Red Barchetta” is #22.
I was also surprised how many songs against abortion were on the list, including “Bodies” by the Sex Pistols at #8, “Brick” by Ben Folds Five (#23), “The Icicle Melts” by the Cranberries (#41) and “Abortion” by Kid Rock (#49).
There are a few songs I might want to add to the list, though I’m not sure they would change the top 30 very much. Here are some suggestions. I’m hoping Scott will drop in with a few as well.
- “Hippychick” by Soho
- “Come Out and Play” by the Offspring – a great anti-gang song.
- “Father of Mine” by Everclear – My daddy gave me a name/then he walked away
- More to come as I think of them…
