I was listening to NPR this morning. They did a story on the ongoing “civil unrest” (their words) related to the passing of Prop 8. During the story they interviewed several gay individuals who were expressing various aspects of their grief and anger. Here’s what one of the men had to say:
My partner and I have been together for 26 years. Until Prop 8 came around, I had no idea how people around us really felt. Suddenly, as neighbors on our street started putting up YES ON 8 signs, I realized that we were surrounded with so much hate.
Hmmm. Hate. Strong word. Anyone who holds a different opinion from this guy about the place of marriage in society must be a “hater.” I’ve always been of the opinion that I can disagree strongly with someone about one issue or another and still have good/positive relations with them. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe inside I AM filled with hate. I guess it is time I come clean and confess my hate.
Here it goes – I don’t like Roy Orbison’s music. In fact, I HATE it and I think anyone who listens to “Pretty Woman” and thinks it is good music is an IDIOT and I HATE them, too!
Man, that feels good to get off my chest.
Anyone else want to unburden themselves?
