V for Vandalism

Michelle Malkin has a post about a professor and a group of grad students who destroyed a pro-life display of crosses on university grounds. The pro-life group that set up the display is pressing charges and the students are facing disciplinary action from the school.
What caught my attention was this comment by the professor:
Any violence perpetrated against that silly display was minor compared to how I felt when I saw it. Some of my students felt the same way, just outraged.
This is the “vandalism made me feel better” defense which is sort of a subset of “blowing up things can change the world” concept put forth in a recent Wachowski brothers movie. We saw a lot of this in the 2004 election. I think we could see even more in 2008.
