I’m not one to join the ODM’s and others who believe that Miley Cyrus is leading the early teen Christian crowd down the toilet to Perdition…BUT…
I do have to say when I saw the Vanity Fair picture that is causing such a ruckus this morning I thought to myself, “Self…WTF!!!” Click on the picture in the story and you’ll get the full shot.
While I acknowledge that the picture wouldn’t qualify as pornography, I would like to know if ANY parent out there believes this particular pose is acceptable for a 15 year old girl. Talk about the sexualization of teens!
Billy Ray…what EXACTLY were you thinking?
A couple high school guys illustrated the point quite clearly this morning when I heard them talking outside my room. One overly-excited, hormonal male asked his friend, “Dude, did you see that picture of Miley Cyrus? That’s how I want her to look at me…when I get out of bed in the morning after we’ve been workin’ it all night!” to which his friend responded ever-so-eloquently, “F*&! yeah!”
Poor judgment from a young teen isn’t anything new. I don’t hold taking that picture against Miley, but what about ALL OF THE ADULTS at the shoot including her parents?
John Adds: Vanity Fair is fighting back, releasing video of the shoot. Everybody does look comfortable. I’d have to say that in most of the other shots, she’s dressed about as you’d expect a Disney show star to be. The photo they used seems to be the most sexualized of the entire shoot:
