Obama and the 2 Sides of the Race Coin

Scott on March 19, 2008 at 2:12 pm

Yesterday Barack Obama did his best to denounce his (former) pastor’s inflammatory, hateful rhetoric while still admiring him and what he stands for. The votes are still out on how he did trying to walk that tight rope.

But today brings another challenge in the form of the New Black Panther Party. Their website makes for interesting reading. The NBPP has an endorsement page on the Obama website, describing Obama as a candidate whorepresents “Positive Change” for all of America. Obama will stir the “Melting Pot” into a better “Molten America”.

So what’s the problem? The Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled the NBPP as an extremist hate group pushing such things as racial bigotry, violence, and revisionist history. The Anti-Defamation League has identified the NBPP as “the largest organized anti-Semitic black militant group in America…”

Why denounce Jeremiah Wright (his former pastor but still friend, confidant, adviser and inspiration) but still accept the endorsement of and publicly support the New Black Panther Party?

I guess I am wondering if Obama will be making another speech on race sometime soon.
