MSM Bias Moment of the Day

John on February 22, 2008 at 11:42 am

Back on August 27th, Time magazine reported on the death of an officer who had hit an obstruction while escorting President Bush as part of a motorcade. I wrote about their outrageous headline here. The story itself is expired over at Time, but you can still see the headline here. Plus, I screencaped it for posterity. Here it is:

time-headline.jpg

Today, Time reports on the death of an officer in Hillary Clinton’s motorcade. Here’s the headline from that story.

Both incidents involved motorcycle officers. The Bush incident took place in Albuquerque. Today’s incident happened in Dallas. In short, these are very similar stories. Why such dramatically different headlines? Perhaps someone from Time would care to explain.

Simply put, Time, CNN and the rest of the left wing press hate Bush, and love liberals. Doesn’t everyone know that?

Why dont you know the Evil Bush wanted the officer to die while the saintly Hillary only wants the best for the officer and his family.

Thier stripes have been showing for some time now.

You know, of course, The Times will not explain. How do you go about confessing your own bias? Thankfully, the communistic slant of the New York Times has been exposed, and is now clear to Millions of on-lookers.

Just keep up the good work, and keep on exposing the evil that is the New York Times, and we will all hope that one-day soon they will either go out business, or be taken over by someone who believes in fairness and truth.

Of course over at Democrat Underground, they’re following up on the frame established for them by the Mainstream Media. i..e, Bush caused the deaths, and then moved on casually, perhaps while laughing. Hillary has shown the immensity of her character by mentioning the death at the foot of her second rally appearance of the day. And, predictably, that this is a dry run of a hit job on Hilldog or Obama.

It is an irony that men such as the Dalas police office who passed today are sometimes duty-bound to protect the lives of fundamentally indecent scum such as are progressives.

This is starting to look suspicious…Especially in light of this story.

Perhaps the Carnahan/Wellstone hit squad is back together?

I’m sure Hillary didn’t throw him a coin
like Bush did when a member of his motorcade was killed.

Were two cops killed escorting Bush? I lived at Hickam AFB at the time the motorcycle cop was killed in President Bush’s motorcade and I distinctly remember that it happened at the main gate of the base.

“the communistic slant of the New York Times has been exposed…..”

Jerry, do you actually know what communism is? Because it’s a real thing, a belief system that people in various parts of the world have tried to implement, never with any success. But, and this is an important point, you don’t have any of it in the United States. None. The Democrat party is as far from Communism as the Republican Party is from fascism (and by that I mean a very long way, incidentally).

For all propoganda is a charactersitic of all ‘communist’ governments, it is not their exclusive preserve, nor the preserve of extremists, nor the left or the right. Oh, and the article is about Time Magazine, which even I know is different from the New York times.

what is missing from this story is a recounting of the fact that the officer was distracted by the string of slurs, invective and expletives Hillary was shouting at him at the time.

“Honestly, if you are obsessing over petty details like this you really need to find something better to do with your life.”

The Democratic Party took 16 words, changed one from “sought” to “bought” with the connivance of the media, and then proceeded to make it the common wisdom that the President of the United States lied in a State of the Union address. Not one Democrat… almost all of them, including all the leaders! Is that a petty detail? It is the kind that media liars perpetrate every day in this country, while they moan about “partisan” politics.

I’ll remember that the next time I hear a Democrat claiming that “Words matter.” Are we at war with Oceania or EastAsia?

The Bush headline makes it sound as if Bush’s motorcade did something to deliberately kill a cop — perhaps running down some poor guy who was just trying to direct traffic when the cruel and heartless minions of Bush callously ran him down.

The Clinton headline makes it sound as if somebody outside the Clinton camp — one of her many heartless critics, perhaps — deliberately killed one of our brave boys in blue as he was trying to protect the former First Lady from her insidious enemies.

You can’t tell me that was accidental.

I’m a Motor Officer in Las Vegas, and had the duty of escorting Bush when he was here a few weeks ago. Prior to his visit, we trained on dignitary escort. As part of the training, we reviewed the incident in Hawaii. Interestingly, when the motors (there were four that went down) crashed in Hawaii, Bush had his medical team stop and see if they could render aid. I’m not a big conspiracy theory guy, but I never saw that reported. I wonder if Hillary did the same thing in Dallas…

I heard something yesterday about one of Reagan’s motorcades, where an officer went down on his motorcycle (was not killed) but his gun flew out of his holster and Reagan actually open the door to his car, jumped out and ran to the loose gun to secure it, causing all of his secret service men have to jump onto him…

I wonder what those headlines read? I can only imagine.

    Great post John.

    Dear “Shut Up,”

This isn’t rocket science! If you look at the two side by side, the difference in what is implied can’t be missed. Let’s try it again:

1st Headline: “Bush Motorcade Kills Cop”

2nd Headline: “Officer Killed Escorting Clinton”

In the first headline, the obvious implication is that the motorcade had a direct hand in KILLING the cop. The verb KILL means to perform an act which takes the life of someone. The cop is the object of the verb KILL which is performed by the motorcade. Thus, they are saying that the motorcade actually KILLED the cop.

In the second headline, the implication is that the officer was killed during the process of escorting Clinton, in the line of duty. Clinton and her motorcade aren’t in the position of taking the KILLING action. The action took place apart from the actions of the Clinton motorcade.

Again, Mr/Ms “Shut Up,” this isn’t that difficult. Let me know if you need some further explanation. I’m sure my 1st grader can help you out.
