It now appears that 6 out of the 8 U.K. bombing suspects were doctors. SIX!!! If it wasn’t so scary it would be an unexpectedly amusing comedy sketch that the British comedy gang from Monty Python could/would be proud of…social commentary and political satire taken in a fresh direction. So much for coconut galloping, killer rabbits, black knights and holy hand grenades!
Following up on my earlier post about doctors and the Hippocratic oath, here’s a fascinating quote from Haim Ginott, a Jewish teacher and child psychologist who in the 1960′s wrote the book “Between Parent and Child” -
Dear Teacher: I am a survivor of a concentration camp. My eyes saw what no man should witness: Gas chambers built by learned engineers Children poisoned by educated physicians. Infants killed by trained nurses. Women and babies shot and burned by high school and college graduates. So I am suspicious of education. My request is: help your students to become human. Your efforts must never produce learned monsters, skilled psychopaths, educated Eichmanns. Reading, writing, and arithmetic are important only if they serve to make our children more humane.
Obviously I’m just speculating, but perhaps the problem in this situation is that the training these doctors received was too clinical in nature while simultaneously emphasizing the inherent lack of worth of anyone who is not Muslim. If they were trained in the “science” of medicine, but not the “art” (humanity) of medicine -and- if they were constantly exposed to the dehumanization of the “infidels” while also exposed to the caliphate-oriented superiority of and ultimate world domination of Islam then they were educated, trained and groomed to become the “learned monsters, skilled psychopaths, educated Eichmanns” that Ginott refers to.
