Michael Chrichton is turning into the Erasmus of the modern environmental movement. This speech is an excellent example of what I mean and contains some fascinating history of the management of Yellowstone. I’m very sympathetic to his view that the best way to solve most environmental problems is through progress. Living in a self-sustaining biosphere or eco-commune (as was recently featured on Morgan Spurlock’s TV show 30 days) is not my idea of progress.
