Hillary and Bill are going after the yucks in a new internet video based on the final episode of the Sopranos. Someone (can’t recall who) asked whether a couple of politicos known for shady business deals should be cultivating mobster chic, even as a joke.
Meanwhile, some actual shenanigans are threatening to deliver a serious blow to Hillary’s campaign. At least they would if the media weren’t utterly tone deaf to Democratic scandals (this one for instance).
Here’s the story. Back in 2000 when Hillary first ran for Senate, a supporter named Peter Paul hosted a fund raiser for her, spending nearly 2 million dollars of his own money on the event.
In a written document filed with a California court in April 2006 Hillary fell back on the old standby. She couldn’t remember knowing anything about the event or who paid for what. She never spoke to Peter Paul about it.
One problem. There’s a video tape of Hillary thanking Peter Paul for hosting the event:
The tape shows Clinton – currently the leading Democratic presidential contender – speaking in 2000 with Peter Paul, a Hollywood mogul, and comic book icon Stan Lee about a massive fundraising event for her 2000 Senate race. Paul spent about $2 million of his own money to produce the event. The legal contribution limit to a candidate then was $2,000.
“The evidence is of that rare type that captures the very commission of a crime, namely, that of knowingly soliciting, coordinating and accepting federal campaign contributions far in excess of the legal limit of $2,000,” says the brief to be filed by Paul’s attorney with the Court of Appeal, 2nd Appellate District arguing in favor of including the tape as evidence.
A portion of the videotape captures the closing words of a lengthy conversation in which Paul was present.
The voice of Hillary Clinton is heard telling Lee that Paul and her chief campaign aide “talk all the time, so she’ll be the person to convey whatever I need.” She is then heard adding, “I wanted to call and personally thank all of you … [and] tell you how much this means to me. It’s going to mean a lot to the president, too.”
Hillary and Bill — the perjury pair.
It’s so cliche, but I have to say it. Just imagine if this were Rudy Giuliani who had done an end run around campaign finance laws and later a video tape appeared to prove he had perjured himself in court documents. CNN would be running that clip nonstop. The NY Times would have it on the front page for one, maybe two days. Will the Hillary video ever appear? Not on your life.
So let me just say, if Peter Paul’s attorney is looking for a place to leak a tape…here I am. I’ll post it here, on You Tube…you name it. Eight years of the Clintons acting as if they are above the law was enough for me. Hillary should have had her rear handed to her for the cattle futures trade or the 800 raw FBI files she was using as bedtime reading or the law office billing records that mysteriously appeared in her closet months after being subpoenaed. I’m fed up.
Seriously. Someone leak the tape. This isn’t national security. This is the old Clinton CYA and deception.
