Michael Moore Starts a New Conspiracy Theory

Qui bono?

Who benefits? That’s the latest from Michael Moore on the pirating of his new film:

Every filmmaker intends for his film to be seen on the big screen,” Moore said. “This wasn’t a guy taking a video camera into a theater. This was an inside job, a copy made from a high-quality master and could potentially impact the opening weekend boxoffice. Who do you think benefits from that?

I don’t know Micahel. Is it the Bilderbergers? The Masons? Give me a hint. Asked if he had anything to do with the posting, Mike said:

Oh no. The (Weinstein) brothers are devastated.

That’s quite a difference from what he said last week:

I make these books and movies and TV shows because I want things to change, so the more people that get to see them the better, and um, so I’m, I’m happy when that happens, OK?

The Hollywood Reporter article also claims that every screener (that’s a pre-release DVD of the film for VIPs) has a traceable code in it. So in theory they should be able to find out who put this thing online. Here’s my prediction: No one ever gets caught. This has all the earmarks of a well-crafted marketing strategy. Qui bono?

Michael Moore and the Weinstein brothers, that’s who.

The real question is who benefits from the illegal posting of Paris Hilton’s Pledge This! I think we all know the answer…
