Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson and his wife were leaving dinner at a new pizza joint near their home in Omaha one night last week when a patron began complaining about Nelson’s decisive vote in favor of the Senate’s health care bill.
Other customers started booing. A woman yelled, “Get him the hell out of here!” And the Nelsons and their dining companions beat a hasty retreat.
It’s going to be a long two years for Ben. In fact, Allah wonders if the heat might make him reconsider his vote, especially if Brown wins in Massachusetts.
Wow, just think about that possibility. A republican takes Kennedy’s lifetime appointment Senate seat and uses it to defeat his signature issue by one vote, but only after the Democrats further besmirch themselves trying to prevent him taking office. That of course drives the polling on the bill further into the toilet and puts the house in play come November.
And some people say there is no God.
Seriously though, if this was a movie, people would be saying the ending was too far-fetched. Truth really is stranger than fiction.
