Old Spice Guy’s Advice for President Obama

I’m sure this will get old, but it hasn’t yet: The really scary thing is that, if he dared take the advice, it would probably work. [HT: Media Blog]

Pretty funny: I find myself wondering if they dubbed the voices later or used speaker systems in the helmets to get that crackly PA sound. Yeah, I’m beyond help.

They had fun with the review of the Camaro SS: I’m with Hammond on this one.

From New York, where they know how to put on a show: I love it that America celebrates by blowing things up. Something is deeply satisfying about that.

A company called BlueWater comics has been publishing a bunch of famous faces issues. They’ve done issues on figures from both the left and the right. They’re supposedly trying to be non-partisan, but it doesn’t actually work out that way. Their issue on Sarah Palin, which I thumbed through, pretty much rehashed every liberal line of attack including Trig trutherism. If I recall, it ended with the narrator struggling to [...]

His work is instantly recognizable. I don’t think there is a boy alive who hasn’t found images like this enchanting at some point in life: In fact if you’ve ever seen his work, you can’t forget it: And this one: His wife Ellie, whom he’d married in 1956 and who sometimes was his model, died last year. The best blog coverage I’ve found is here. An artist looks at Frazetta’s [...]

Big Hollywood links to this Variety story about the declining fortunes of Blockbuster video: Moody’s Investors Service has lowered shares of Blockbuster two notches closer to default, worrying that the company’s weak bottom line and heavy debt repayment schedule — to lower some $1 billion in debt — increases the likelihood of a distressed exchange. The Dallas-based company has been closing stores as more consumers switch to online rental services [...]

USA Today reports that Burger King will begin a trial run of selling Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors beers with their Whopper Meals in South Beach, Florida beginning this February. Following their European counterparts which have been offering beer with meals for decades, Burger King will launch what they are calling their Whopper-Bar, or Burger-Bar, in South Beach, and if successful will likely expand the market to include Los Angeles, New York, [...]

Apparently someone tried to blackmail David Letterman by threatening to out several affairs he has had with female staffers on his show. Now, for the record I don’t support anyone trying to blackmail Letterman or anyone else. It’s creepy and wrong. The guy has a six year old and I feel very sorry for that kid who is about to have a rough couple years. I hope the guy who [...]

I used to love What If? It was a Marvel comic book in which you got to see how the world would be different if certain key events had gone differently. For instance, what if Spider-Man had joined the Fantastic Four? So I have a little hypothetical for you? What if Roman Polanski had drugged and sodomized Khalid Sheikh Mohammed? In case you’ve missed it somehow, Polanski is a film [...]

Back in April, Mark Morford — the Ann Coulter of the San Francisco left who famously described Obama as a “lightworker” (whatever the hell that is) — wrote a sneering column about the new 2010 Camaro. He described it as a “sexy macho bloated Hot Wheels fantasia dreamgasm of a car-like drunken child’s funbot crayon sketch.” The guy’s a loon, but you have to give him props for a sentence [...]

On December 19, 1998, President Clinton was impeached for his affair with intern Monica Lewinsky. Apparently the experience didn’t change him much. Today the Daily Mail reports he was still up to his antics sometime after the blue dress incident: TV presenter Claire Sweeney has revealed she was chatted up by Bill Clinton at a fancy dress party. The former Brookside star was at a bash in Russia, hosted by [...]

This morning I heard on the news that Nadya Suleman, otherwise known as “Octomom”, was offered $1 million to perform in a pornographic movie by a top selling porn-producing agency. Not only that, but the same company said that they were willing to help her out and lend a hand by offering her a one year contract, where she would need to perform in multiple movies in the course of [...]

Holy nerds in love, Batman! I think it’s cool Obama knows a bit about comics, but does Marvel have to suck up to the dear leader this hard? The “fist bump” is bad enough but come on, people! Obama is reasonably fit, but he’s still basically a thin dude who smokes. In this panel he’s somehow picked up Luke Cage’s shoulders and Captain America’s chin. And, oh yeah, what happened [...]

Here’s the AP version: The Josephson Institute, a Los Angeles-based ethics institute, surveyed 29,760 students at 100 randomly selected high schools nationwide, both public and private. All students in the selected schools were given the survey in class; their anonymity was assured. Michael Josephson, the institute’s founder and president, said he was most dismayed by the findings about theft. The survey found that 35 percent of boys and 26 percent [...]

A 22 year old programmer has created a free, downloadable game called Muslim Massacre. The object of the game is to kill as many Muslims as possible on behalf of the USA. At first glance it may look like the work of some as if some steroid-crazed neocon. However, the author of the game is actually from Australia. The Daily Mail notes that he had this to say about the [...]

You may or may not care, but last night was the MTV Video Music Awards. This year the hosting duties were handled by Russell Brand, a British “comedian” (and I use that term loosely). I fully understand that the VMA’s are not necessarily the venue where one might expect articulate and insightful analysis of pop culture and society, but this guy took rude and boorish to an entirely different level. [...]

**NOTE**: John and his family are out of town for a couple weeks. To fill his spot we have spared no expense and brought in a hired gun of the highest caliber, our friend Cindy. Well, OK. Cindy is not costing VS anything so she isn’t a hired gun. And that whole “highest caliber” thing… well, her son and my son are best friends, so I had to put that [...]

I’m not one to join the ODM’s and others who believe that Miley Cyrus is leading the early teen Christian crowd down the toilet to Perdition…BUT… I do have to say when I saw the Vanity Fair picture that is causing such a ruckus this morning I thought to myself, “Self…WTF!!!” Click on the picture in the story and you’ll get the full shot. While I acknowledge that the picture [...]
